<p>Built on the old castle deer park, The Park Estate is elegant, leafy and just lovely. With wide streets, flagstone pavements and mature leafy trees, it’s hard to believe you’re just a few minutes’ walk from the bustling city centre. Known for its beautiful Victorian architecture, the houses here are grand with a capital G. Although, reality check, many are now split into flats or semis. Adding to the dignified Victorian vibe, the streets are still lit by quaint gas street lamps (residents pay a ‘Park rate’ on top of council tax for this that also funds the upkeep of the roads and green spaces). Unusually for a city space, there’s a real sense of community with the residents’ association hosting monthly Sunday socials and there’s a thriving tennis club with beautiful courts). It’s a relaxing, refined and oh so green. And breathe!</p>

<p>If it’s elegant fine dining you’re after, you’ve got some of the city’s best offerings on the doorstep. Michelin-starred <a href="https://www.alchemillarestaurant.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Alchemilla</a> was voted <a href="https://nottsderbyshire.muddystilettos.co.uk/eat-out/restaurants/top-100-restaurants-nottingham-sat-bains/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">26<sup>th</sup> best restaurant in the UK</a> this year for it’s exciting, experimental food (it&#8217;s got a swish rooftop bar for sundowners, too). Intimate, relaxed breakfasts and light lunches are on offer at <a href="https://nottsderbyshire.muddystilettos.co.uk/little-black-book/directory/harts-hotel-kitchen-nottingham/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hart’s Kitchen</a> in the Park Estate itself, while <a href="https://nottsderbyshire.muddystilettos.co.uk/eat-out/browns-nottingham-why-we-love/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Brown’s</a> is just down the road too. Cocktails? Creative, contemporary cocktail bar <a href="https://loose-ends.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Loose Ends</a> is right by Nottingham Castle and has outdoor seating for the warmer months.</p>

<p>Nearby Derby Road is having a bit of a renaissance with a few cool new indies popping up. For hip, high-end menswear, head to <a href="https://universalworks.co.uk/pages/nottingham-store" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Universal Works</a>, then pop next door to super cool <a href="https://littleplantguys.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Little Plant Guys</a> for all things leafy and green. All the high street names are within a 15 mins walk but you&#8217;ll also find cool city centre indies like <a href="https://www.handmadenottingham.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Handmade Nottingham</a> for quirky gifts and <a href="https://whiterosefashion.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">White Rose</a> for vintage clothing finds.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-health-amp-wellbeing">HEALTH &amp; WELLBEING</h2>



<p><a href="https://www.parktennis.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Park Tennis Club</a> has a big social scene and is deservedly popular, running everything from social knockabouts to competitive and team opps. There’s also a <a href="https://www.nsrc.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Squash Racquets Club</a> that offers a gym and personal training too.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-community">COMMUNITY</h2>



<p><a href="https://parknews.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nottingham Park Residents’ Association</a> thrives and hosts stacks of community activities, from farmers’ markets and talks to social suppers and lunches. Need help settling the pooch in? There’s a&nbsp;<a href="https://nottinghamparkestate.co.uk/park-groups/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Park Dog Walking Group</a> which meets&nbsp;every Sunday for a&nbsp;group walk followed by an off-lead romp in a dog-friendly garden.&nbsp;There’s a lovely community open gardens trail in summer and come Christmas locals gather in Newcastle Circus for Carols in the Park.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.nottinghamcastle.org.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nottingham Castle</a> is perched at the grand entrance to the estate and having only just re-opened this summer is worth a visit (there are also plenty of events and big screen pop-ups here too).</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-culture">CULTURE</h2>



<p>Where to start? Nottingham’s vibrant cultural scene is all walkable from The Park. Browse galleries like <a href="https://www.nottinghamcontemporary.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nottingham Contemporary</a> and <a href="https://www.lakesidearts.org.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lakeside Arts</a> if you head towards the university. For theatres and music there’s the fabulous <a href="https://trch.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall</a>, &nbsp;<a href="https://nottinghamplayhouse.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nottingham Playhouse</a>. For big gigs even <a href="https://www.motorpointarenanottingham.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Motorpoint Arena</a> is only a 20 min stroll away.</p>

<p>You&#8217;ll need deep pockets for a detached beauty here, but average house prices took a big tumble last year, down 21 per cent at £394,690.</p>

<p><a href="https://papermoonnurseries.co.uk/">Paper Moon</a> in nearby Lenton received an Outstanding report in 2022 and <a href="https://sandfielddaynursery.com/">Sandfield Day Nursery</a> has a Good rating from 2017.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-schools">SCHOOLS</h2>



<p>Excellent. The outstanding Edna G. Olds Academy is the closest primary, with three Good-rated primaries close by – <a href="https://st-josephs.nottingham.sch.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Welbeck Primary</a> (good overall but outstanding in four areas), <a href="https://www.radfordprimaryacademy.org.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Radford Primary School Academy</a> and <a href="https://mellersprimary.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mellers</a>. Independent <a href="https://st-josephs.nottingham.sch.uk/">St Joseph’s</a> is on the doorstep too. For older kids, free school <a href="https://www.stonesoupacademy.org.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Stone Soup Academy</a> was rated outstanding at its last full inspection. In the other direction, <a href="https://www.bluecoatwollaton.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bluecoat Wollaton Academy</a> also received an outstanding report in 2018. For independent schools the excellent <a href="https://nottinghamgirlshigh.gdst.net/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nottingham Girls’ High School</a> and <a href="https://nottinghamhigh.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nottingham High School</a> are both within easy reach.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-best-kept-secret">BEST KEPT SECRET</h2>



<p>There’s a hidden tunnel connecting The Park to Derby Road. Initially built in 1855 for horse-drawn carriages, these days you can sometimes stumble across local choirs making the most of its acoustics.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-commute">COMMUTE</h2>



<p>Walkable to anywhere in Nottingham city centre and just a 20 min walk from Nottingham train station. The M1 is close by for easy access to the north and south and East Midlands Airport just a mere 30 mins to the check in desk.</p>
