<p>Gatsby glamour, banquettes made for sharing secrets and a menu that&#8217;s more NYC than Bakewell tart. Bakewell&#8217;s hotly anticipated new restaurant <a href="https://the-charleston.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Charleston</a> (in the beautifully restored former Royal Bank of Scotland building) is starting to share glimpses of what we can expect when it opens early in 2026. With shades of speakeasies from the 1920s, live jazz, and a promise to bring bold flavours and big cocktails to the menu, Muddy likes the sound of it so far (and check out those luxe loos!)..</p>



<p><a href="https://www.oneunionpubs.co.uk/glassorchid" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Glass</a> in Beeston is set for a swanky revamp when it expands into the unit next door. Renovations start this winter, with an even bolder new look, brand new bar and sleek split-level mezzanine. The fresh new look will be unveiled in Feb 2026.</p>

<p>Like your pancakes cloud-like and fluffy? Head to Nottingham’s newest brunch spot, <a href="https://fluffyfluffy.co.uk/location/nottingham/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Fluffy Fluffy</a> on Victoria Street. Their Japanese signature soufflé pancakes are made to order and include the likes of &nbsp;Nutella Strawberry, Blueberry, Tiramisu, Crème Brûlée, Oreo and Matcha.</p>

<p>No ordinary gallery visit! The work of two of art&#8217;s greats &#8211; Monet and Van Gogh &#8211; are headed to Nottingham next year for an immersive treat you won&#8217;t forget in a hurry. <a href="https://www.beyondvangogh.co.uk/city/nottingham">Beyond Van Gogh</a> (18 July &#8211; 7 Aug 2026) brings the masterpieces of Vincent van Gogh, including iconic classics such as&nbsp;<em>The Starry Night</em>,&nbsp;<em>Sunflowers</em>, and&nbsp;<em>Café Terrace at Night</em>, to life in a multimedia cinematic experience. Iconic paintings are made large, covering walls and swirling across the floor. While <a href="https://www.beyondvangogh.co.uk/?mode=nottingham-presale-signup" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Beyond Monet</a> plunges you headlong into the impressionist&#8217;s world. <h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-into-the-dragon-s-den">Into the Dragon&#8217;s Den</h2>



<p>Trying to getting away from ballet&#8217;s pink image by providing dancewear to match every skin tone, Nottingham&#8217;s <a href="https://www.instagram.com/shadesdancewear/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Shades Dancewea</a>r faced the Dragons in their den on TV this week. Although they didn&#8217;t bag the investment they needed, they gained plenty of plaudits for their inclusive designs.</p>

<p>Oo la la! There&#8217;s a stunning new patisserie, coffee shop and chocolate studio opening this week in Nottingham &#8211; <a href="https://www.studio-chocolate.co.uk/copy-of-the-chocolate-club-1" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Savour</a>. Ellie, of Studio Chocolate, is on the move and has seriously upped her game with an elegant new bakery  on Musters Road in West Bridgford, and it opens tomorrow (Wed 5 Nov)! Expect great coffee, croissants, cakes and cookies alongside Ellie&#8217;s breath-taking artisan chocolates. Muddy&#8217;s looking forward to the promise of foodie events and chocolate-making workshops too. </p>

<p>A new Asian bar and grill for Clay Cross this month, as new restaurant <a href="https://www.rikshawaz.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Rikshawaz</a> opens up. Promising bold flavours and fusion food, the menu offers tempting sharing platters, curries and a killer cocktail list (it even boasts a milder kid-friendly menu). </p>

<p>Muddy’s on tenterhooks. After the privately-owned former <a href="http://chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://assets.savills.com/properties/GB0401S80432/1e8d3677c5244d450418c96587886e9f_The_Walton_Hotel_Nottingham.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Walton Hotel</a> on the leafy Park Estate sold for more than its £1million asking price at auction, we can’t wait to see what’s in store for it next. Having hosted the likes of Sir Roger Moore and Bob Hoskins in its heyday, the former hunting lodge is a beaut’ of a building. Will its next iteration be a hotel, restaurant or bar? Or perhaps some swanky residential apartments? Watch this space.</p>

<p>Yet more accolades for <a href="https://nottsderbyshire.muddystilettos.co.uk/little-black-book/directory/the-cavendish-hotel-baslow-derbyshire/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Cavendish Hotel</a> at Baslow which has held onto its coveted Michelin key (like a Michelin star but for hotels). So much to love about this beautiful boutique bolthole, but Muddy&#8217;s favourite spot is the cosy 1950s bar (pictured). Equally lauded this year, <a href="https://www.theblindbull.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Blind Bull</a> in Little Hucklow has scooped a coveted spot in the Good Food Guide&#8217;s list of Top 100 pubs. It adds to their Muddy Award and clutch of 2025 gongs.</p>
