<p>This one has foodies drooling. The doors will be opening this June at <a href="https://www.instagram.com/marcellospasta/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Marcello’s</a>, a new Italian specialising in fresh pasta and punchy flavours. Based in Beeston, just behind Bistro 66, this passion project has almost finished marinating and we can’t wait to try it.</p>

<p>Brace for the burgers! <a href="https://thebeefyboys.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The&nbsp;Beefy&nbsp;Boys</a>&nbsp;is bringing its award-winning menu and cult following to Nottingham&#8217;s foodie scene next month. The Queen Street restaurant will be the sixth burger joint for the four childhood friends who founded it, growing from backyard BBQs to internationally recognised burger champions. Fancy being among the first to try it out? &nbsp;<a href="https://www.opentable.co.uk/booking/restref/availability?lang=en-GB&amp;correlationId=f3a22d9a-1801-4d4e-b7e1-665d015aeee6&amp;restRef=471423&amp;otSource=Restaurant%20website" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Book in quick</a> to become a ‘burger tester’  from 25&nbsp;May – 10&nbsp;June (and bag 25% off your food bill).</p>



<p>Great news for Nottingham&#8217;s cocktail scene: plans for <a href="https://theislandquarter.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Island Quarter</a>’s rooftop terrace have been approved making way for the highest rooftop bar in the city. Expect festoon lighting, a sleek pergola and lounge and stool seating to enjoy panoramic views across the skyline from day to night &#8211; sounds good to us. </p>

<p>A 1920s-style bar and restaurant inspired by the golden age of cocktails and jazz? Like lots of Bakewell locals, we’re chomping at the bit for the opening of <a href="https://the-charleston.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Charleston</a> in the former Royal Bank of Scotland building. As is the way with grade II-listed renos, planning niggles have held things up a little, but opening day is now in sight and we’ve got some juicy details about what to expect. The glow-up will show off the soaring ceilings, ornate cornices and tall windows, while injecting the space with warm lighting, rich textures and art deco design details. In the mornings, it’ll be speciality coffees, alternative lattes, and lighter pick-me-ups before moving into a brunch menu inspired by London and NYC flavours and style. We’ve sneaked a peek at the menu; expect The Waffle Sandwich &#8211; buttermilk chicken, maple bacon, coffee and bacon jam, guacamole mousse and golden waffle &#8211; alongside dishes such as the Florentine Gatsby, featuring spiced avocado and spinach mousse with crispy eggs and micro herbs. Evenings will bring classic French brasserie cooking and cocktails will play a leading role, including a ‘High Society Spritzes’ range, featuring Aperol, Hugo and Rhubarb Spritzes. Live music is gonna be big here, with a baby grand piano and daily performances spanning jazz, soul and classic swing. No firm opening date yet, but ‘this summer’ is still then plan. <h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-new-wild-sauna">New wild sauna</h2>



<p>Saunas are having a moment. Hot huts are popping up everywhere, and Derby is the latest spot to get hot and sweaty. <a href="https://www.instagram.com/derbywildsauna/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Derby Wild Sauna</a> has just opened its swanky new 15-seat sauna, cold plunge baths (set at 4c and 8c) and changing rooms on site. Wanna make a day of it? How about the Wild Sauna Paddle option to do a guided paddleboard sesh on the Derwent River followed by a sauna and cold plunge.</p>

<p>There&#8217;s a cool new play village in town that&#8217;s perfect if the kids have had too much sun (or rain for that matter). <a href="https://www.doodleandmoosplayvillage.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Doodle &amp; Moo</a>&#8216;s Play Village has just opened in Belper and it looks super cute. Brilliantly-designed for imaginative play, littlies can get busy playing in the miniature café, fire station, construction zone or supermarket (there are stacks more zones to explore too). Meanwhile, parents can unwind and catch-up in the calm café.</p>
