<p>Spend a lazy few hours in the Peak District among the beautiful British blooms and pick your own to take home. Summer PYO sessions are now available every Thursday and Saturday until September. For £25pp, you’ll be provided with some snips and bring your own bucket to fill with snapdragons, sunflowers, helichrysum, cosmos, dahlias and more. You’ll also get some tips on how to cut and condition your flowers, and how to make them last longer. Sessions run from 11am-1pm. You can bring a companion for £7 (no flowers included) and children 17 and under can pick a posy for a tenner.</p>

<p>A lovely little flower farm that opens for seasonal Pick Your Own on Saturday mornings at 10am. From the tulips in April to the chrysanthemums in September, you can pitch up spend a couple of hours among the flowers selecting a bunch of  seasonal, scented, chemical-free blooms to take home with you. Costs £25pp and snips are provided. Bring your own bucket and book ahead.</p>

<p>This 40 acre wildflower farm is one for the green-fingered looking to grown their own. Boasting a whopping 200 different types of flower species, the farm sells seeds and native wildflowers in 9cm pots. Browse the wildflower garden and marvel at the pretty flower fields where crops are grown for their seeds. At the bottom of the garden, you can also browse and buy pond and marginal plants including native lilies. The on site café serves sandwiches and sweet treats</p>

<p>Not pumpkins just yet, but stacks sunflowers from the start of August. It&#8217;s a lovely one for kids, and great for photos, with fields of more than  40,000 sunflowers, alongside a maize maze.</p>

<p>One for Gen TikTok. Opening up at the end of July, this fab sunflower field is bursting with beautiful photo opps and set-ups (last year featured a giant swing). Pick your own stems or just snap some sunny shots &#8211; it&#8217;s easy to find too, at Four Lane Ends on Barlow Road.  </p>

<p>This south Derbyshire flower field is a fab one for taking kids to. With a hay bale climbing stack, maze and stacks of sunny sunflowers to pick, it is expected to open this August.</p>

<p>Ok, so you may not be able to waft around the flower fields picking your own here, but you can pick up some wonderfully wild hand-tied bouquets and DIY flower buckets. Hotfoot it down to the honesty-shop-style farm stand (especially on a weekend), where you’ll find everything from mini mood-boosting bunches and pretty jars to big beautiful mixed and single variety bouquets from £5-£20. Fancy playing florist yourself? Pick a colour scheme and pre-order a DIY bucket of blooms to pick up and have a play with. For £75, you’ll get at least 55 stems (and often loads more – these babies are packed in) with at least five of each variety.&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-leicestershire-flower-farm-upper-broughton"><a href="https://theleicestershireflowerfarm.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Leicestershire Flower Farm</a>, Upper Broughton</h2>



<p>A hop across the Notts border to this beautiful flower farm which runs all sorts of tempting workshops and pick your own days. The next is an <a href="https://theleicestershireflowerfarm.co.uk/products/july-an-evening-at-the-flower-farm" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">evening on the flower farm</a> on Sat 19 July when you can waft about picking fresh flowers and learn how to arrange them. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-half-acre-farm-bolsover"><a href="https://www.halfacrefarm.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Half Acre Farm</a>, Bolsover</h2>



<p>A family farm that offers a trug-load of flowery activities throughout the year, from PYO tulips in spring to private PYO dahlias and annuals in the main flower field during the summer months.</p>



<p>Come autumn, when the fresh flowers are sleeping, you can also book onto dried flower workshops.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-pyo-fruit">PYO FRUIT</h2>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-hanwell-wine-estate-melton-road"><a href="https://www.hanwellwine.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hanwell Wine Estate</a>, Melton Road</h2>



<p>From the middle of August you’ll be able to head to this local vineyard to do some blackberry picking. Bring the family and a tub and help yourself to the abundant blackberries in the vineyard hedgerows. Dogs on leads are welcome too.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-scaddows-farm-ticknall"><a href="https://www.scaddows.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Scaddows Farm</a>, Ticknall</h2>



<p>Usually open from mid June-ish, this PYO fruit farm and farm shop offers a gorgeous<em> </em>array of pick-your-own fruits. Star attractions include strawberries, raspberries, blackcurrants, redcurrants, and gooseberries. There&#8217;s also a vineyard here, open for tours in Sept and Oct.</p>

<p>Open from the end of June, there&#8217;s a plentiful pick of crops to pick from here. From strawberries, raspberries and blackcurrants to broad beans and peas, this is a great spot to PYO.</p>

<p>Already open for strawberry picking, the School Farm site is a lovely spot for PYO strawberries. Check before you travel as opening times here are weather-dependent. Well-behaved dogs are allowed (although they&#8217;ll have to stay on the edge of the field on a lead).</p>
