<p>Over 100 years of baking experience you say? Loaf definitely knows a thing or two about a decent dough. Based in the picturesque Derbyshire village of Crich, you&#8217;ll find Loaf&#8217;s incredible sourdough selling out at markets across the county and, I speak with some experience here, their croissants are knockout. </p>

<p>Tough Mary&#8217;s canary yellow bakehouse is a staple feature of Nottingham&#8217;s historic Derby Road. Owned by Kate O&#8217;Shea (who studied in the city and never left), the team of wizard bakers rustle up sweet and savoury treats that&#8217;ll make your mouth water. And should you need a coffee with your pecan bun, grab a cup and sit in the window to watch the world go by. </p>

<p>From a tiny unit to a bustling, vibey cafe, Butter Fingers is a locals fave. And when you see the cakes&#8230; it&#8217;s understandable. Specialising in sweet treats, Butter Fingers&#8217; bakes are absolutely irresistible – from brownies melt in your mouth to Derbyshire classics with a twist. </p>

<p>There&#8217;s something special that happens when an artisan knows everything about their craft – and the bakers at Small Food are truly grain experts. Along with producing fantastic sourdough, the team hosts the biannual UK Grain Lab conference, bringing together bakers, cooks, farmers, millers, activists, scientists, and storytellers to help build a new grain economy for the UK. </p>

<p>Ok, not quite a bakery, but if you’re looking for someone to dish up perfect patisseries for your next big bash, say ciao to Pasticceria Lorena. Lorena combines old family recipes that have been handed down for generations, the finest Italian ingredients and a whole lotta creative flair to make authentic, super luxe desserts that you would fabricate an event for just to get a bite. Her decadent desserts have graced the table at the Muddy Awards and they were a huge hit.</p>

<p>Winners of this year&#8217;s Best Local Food Producer in the Muddy Awards, these Cordon Bleu-trained patisserie chefs are the real deal. Their bakery pops up in Repton and surrounds, attracting queues clamouring for perfect pastries as beautiful to behold as they are delightful to devour.
