<p>Not a fan of all this New Year’s Eve malarkey? If you&#8217;d prefer to swerve the big bash and escape with a calmer, more ponderous evening out, how about a quiet stroll with a BYO sundowner? The sun sets at 3.59pm on 30 December and there are plenty of amazing, easy-to-reach spots in the Peak District to watch the sun go down on the past year. Pack a bottle of something fizzy and head to <a href="https://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/leisure/countryside/countryside-sites/wildlife-amenity/black-rocks.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Black Rocks</a> where a sunset viewpoint is just a short but steep climb from the car park. <a href="https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/peak-district-derbyshire/kinder-edale-and-the-high-peak/mam-tor-circular-walk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mam Tor</a> is another option, where the viewpoint is a steep 10-minute hike up stone steps to the trig point from the National Trust car park.</p>

<p>Frock up for fizz and feasting at Woodborough Hall&#8217;s glamorous<a href="https://www.woodborough-hall.co.uk/whats-on/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Grand Ball</a> on New Year&#8217;s Eve. With canapes and drinks on arrival, a five course meal, you can then dance the night away before a fabulous fireworks finale. Tickets cost £130pp.</p>
