<p>For off-the-scale date night escape quirkiness, book the dramatic 16th century <a href="https://devonshirehotels.co.uk/boltholes/hunting-tower/">Hunting Tower</a> that overlooks Chatsworth. This magnificent place still has availability for the weekend following Valentine&#8217;s and, if you book before 14 Feb you&#8217;ll enjoy 15 per cent of stays taken this year.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-take-a-moonlit-dip">Take a moonlit dip</h2>



<p>If you fancy something a bit more active for your next date night, how about a romantic night swim? With lovely water temperatures of around 22c, a dip in the lido at <a href="https://www.facebook.com/HathersageSwimmingPool">Hathersage</a> is a treat and there are even atmospheric after-dark sessions to enjoy together. Once the weather warms up, look out for the night swims with live music and from April, you can book a wild swim for two at Colwick Lake, Nottingham. <a href="https://whollyhealthy.co.uk/open-water-squad/">WholeHealth</a> runs a brilliant evening swim session where you can spend up to two hours exploring a long loop course.</p>

Keep your eyes peeled for an alleyway filled with suitcases and you’ll be on the right track. Once inside, settle in for a night of cocktail exploration and cheeky revelry. And if you’re feeling brave, head deeper underground to discover <a href="https://www.lostpropertynottingham.co.uk/thelostcaves">The Lost Caves</a> Gin and Rum bar. </p>

<p><strong><br></strong>If formal classes aren’t your thing, The Clayrooms in Ashbourne hosts a super fun <a href="https://www.theclayrooms.co.uk/pottery-at-the-pubk">Pottery at the Pub</a> session for newbie potters. The price includes all of your materials and your first drink, and if you’re particularly fond of your creation, they’ll finish and fire it for you too. There&#8217;s a Valentine&#8217;s Rudey Nudie Pottery session (that&#8217;s the pots that are nude, not you!) at Red Willow, Buxton on Mon 12 Feb and a Couples Romantic Pottery at Bear in Ashbourne on Fri 16 Feb.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-get-lost-in-music">Get lost in music</h2>



<p>One to plan ahead for. For a show where you’ll be wowed by the surroundings just as much as the band, head to <a href="https://peakcavern.co.uk/">Peak Cavern</a> in the Hope Valley. This huge cavern chamber has hosted the likes of Jarvis Cocker and Richard Hawley, and has a packed musical programme throughout the year from May onwards. Pre-show, you can also book a 4pm tour and explore the subterranean world of the Devil’s Arse… yes you read that correctly. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-enjoy-an-evening-of-jazz">Enjoy an evening of jazz</h2>



<p>Not just for the connoisseurs, <a href="https://strays.coffee/events/category/newark-jazz/">Strays in Newark</a> hosts one of the best jazz nights around on the first Friday of every month. Handpicked musicians and the house band do tend to dazzle so it’s worth booking tickets in advance. Food is available too so make sure you get this one in the diary!. </p>
