A restaurant-standard dinner rustled up without any of the work. <a href="https://www.cleaverandwake.com/new-years-eve/">Cleaver &amp; Wake&#8217;s New Year&#8217;s Eve box </a>is crafted by the fine dining restaurant&#8217;s team of chefs and starts with venison and pheasant terrine, followed by its signature Beef Wellington, with a luxurious chocolate fondant for dessert. Cheese fiend? Add an optional plate of five British cheeses. The price for dinner à deux is £120 and you can order in multiples of two to fit your number of guests. Collect on 30 Dec.</p>

The talented chefs will conjure up a gourmet feast at the New Year&#8217;s Eve gala dinner before festive ents. Work it all off with a stomp through the grounds of Chatsworth the next day &#8211; it&#8217;s all on your doorstep.</p>

<p>Always buzzing and overflowing with festive cheer, the <a href="https://www.uttoxeter-racecourse.co.uk/whats-on/new-year's-eve-raceday-2024">New Year&#8217;s Eve Raceday </a>at Uttoxeter Racecourse on the Derbyshire/Staffs border is great fun. Have a flutter, have a few glasses of fizz and keep the fun going with a DJ spinning the best tracks for an hour after racing. Over in Southwell there&#8217;s racing the following day at <a href="https://www.southwell-racecourse.co.uk/whats-on/new-years-day-raceday">New Year&#8217;s Day Races</a>.</p>

<p>Not a fan of all this New Year’s Eve malarkey? If you&#8217;d prefer to swerve the big bash and escape with a calmer, more ponderous evening out, how about a quiet stroll with a BYO sundowner? The sun sets at 3.59pm on 30 December and there are plenty of amazing, easy-to-reach spots in the Peak District to watch the sun go down on the past year. Pack a bottle of something fizzy and head to <a href="https://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/leisure/countryside/countryside-sites/wildlife-amenity/black-rocks.aspx">Black Rocks</a> where a sunset viewpoint is just a short but steep climb from the car park. <a href="https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/peak-district-derbyshire/kinder-edale-and-the-high-peak/mam-tor-circular-walk">Mam Tor</a> is another option, where the viewpoint is a steep 10-minute hike up stone steps to the trig point from the National Trust car park.</p>
