<p>Some exciting new openings should shake up the foodie scene this year, with a contemporary new pub, <a href="https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61563180551802&amp;paipv=0&amp;eav=AfZ-kPRYqxteRIZ0u4hCAnzENQ56zgqSofFSEKXSaZrQOG1v2m80fwpeqMgsQmBLNys&amp;_rdr">The Heart at Ruddington.</a> and a popular Notts café newly opened in the village. <a href="https://butlerscoffeehouse.co.uk/">Butler’s Coffee House</a> has just revamped a cool corner property on the corner of High Street and Kirk Lane to open its third buzzing branch. <a href="https://www.theruddingtonarms.com/">The Ruddington Arms</a> (pictured) has a chef patron with real pedigree and a career at Michelin starred eateries so no surprise that it’s a popular spot for meals out (and amazing Champagne brunches). While The&nbsp;<a href="https://www.greeneking.co.uk/pubs/nottinghamshire/nottingham-knight?utm_source=g_places&amp;utm_medium=locations&amp;utm_campaign=PG_pubpage" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nottingham Knight</a>&nbsp;is a reliable option for pub grub and drinks.</p>

<p>The village has a smattering of indie shops that help cultivate its creative vibe. <a href="https://debbiebryan.co.uk/">Debbie Bryan</a> gallery and café offers creative workshops, craft and cake, as well as a stonking afternoon tea. <a href="https://www.facebook.com/rubyraenotts/">Ruby Rae</a> boutique is a nice spot for womenswear, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/zinginteriorsltd">Zing Interiors</a> offers soft furnishings and <a href="https://www.philosdeli.co.uk/">Philo’s</a> stocks some gorgeous gifts.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-health-amp-wellbeing">HEALTH &amp; WELLBEING</h2>



<p>With 210-acre Rushcliffe Country Park on your doorstep, there are stacks of opps for outdoor fun and fitness. The park is home to a lovely woodland, 8km of footpaths, four cycle tracks, a skate park, new play area and even a tyre maze. There’s a popular two-lap <a href="https://www.parkrun.org.uk/rushcliffe/">Parkrun</a> that kicks off every Saturday morning, plus a vibrant village <a href="https://www.facebook.com/ruddingtonrunningclub">running club.</a> Prefer something slower? Try a spot of Hatha at <a href="https://easylivingyoga.setmore.com/">Easy Living Yoga</a> or join <a href="https://www.ruddingtongrange.com/">Ruddington Grange Golf Club</a> (which also dishes up a popular roast in its restaurant on a Sunday). As well as a pharmacy, and a couple of chiropractors, there are a couple of nature reserves too. Known for their stunning early summer show of wildflowers, <a href="https://ruddingtonparishcouncil.gov.uk/about-ruddington/places-of-interest/parks-nature/">Wilwell Farm Cutting</a>, and <a href="https://ruddingtonparishcouncil.gov.uk/about-ruddington/places-of-interest/parks-nature/">Wilford Clay Pits</a> are lovely places to walk.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-community">COMMUNITY</h2>



<p>Busy, buzzing and vibrant, Ruddington’s village community is the big attraction for many. There’s a fab <a href="https://www.ruddingtonvillagemarket.co.uk/">market</a> on the village green on the first Saturday of the month with over 70 stalls selling the local food, drink, flowers and gifts. One of the favourite nights of the calendar is the annual <a href="http://ruddington.info/events/makers-night-jun2024/">Makers’ Night</a> transforms the whole village into an artisan and craft trail, with live music and licensed bars adding to the buzz. <a href="https://www.facebook.com/ruddingtonbeerfestival/?locale=en_GB">Ruddfest</a>, an annual beer festival is another popular event, along with the vast three-day <a href="https://www.ruddingtonvillagemarket.co.uk/christmas">Ruddington Village Christmas Market</a>.</p>

<p>The trails and lake at Rushcliffe Country Park are the main attraction and &nbsp;nearby <a href="https://woldswineestate.com/">Wolds Wine Estate</a> is fun for tours and tastings. Maybe not wildly exciting unless you’re a train buff, but <a href="https://www.gcrn.co.uk/visit">Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre</a> is also based here and sometimes lays on events like fireworks, beer festivals and teddy bears’ picnics. <a href="https://www.ruddington-museum.org.uk/">Ruddington Village Museum</a> is worth a look and recreates the village’s Victorian shops. There’s also the quirky <a href="https://frameworkknittersmuseum.org.uk/">Framework Knitters&#8217; Museum</a> which gives a glimpse into lives of the knitters who worked there.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-culture">CULTURE</h2>



<p>For bricks and mortar culture, you&#8217;ll need to leave the village and head into Nottingham. The big screen isn’t far, with Showcase and Cineworld both just over 3 miles away and the city&#8217;s theatres, music venues and art galleries just a 20 min bus ride away (you&#8217;ll need the Green number 10).</p>

<p>It’s mainly detached places that change hands here, selling for an average price of £512,636. When you look at all properties that sold in the last year, the average price was £353,157 &#8211; 4% down on the previous year.</p>

For sporty, holiday kids clubs, there’s <a href="https://www.ruddingtonkids.co.uk/">Ruddington Kids</a>.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-schools">SCHOOLS</h2>



<p>The two closest primaries, <a href="https://www.jamespeacock.org.uk/">James Peacock Infant &amp; Nursery School</a> and <a href="https://www.stpetersjunior.org.uk/ofsted/">St Peter’s CofE</a> are both rated Good by Ofsted. In neighbouring Clifton you’ll find Outstanding <a href="Blessed%20Robert%20Widmerpool%20Catholic%20Primary%20and%20Nursery%20School">Blessed Robert Widmerpool Catholic Primary</a>.Easthorpe School, an independent school for special needs, is in the village and has an Outstanding Oftsed rating. For independents, the holistic <a href="https://www.theionaschool.org.uk/">Iona School</a> is a popular primary in Sneinton Dale that follows Waldorf values and <a href="https://www.plumtreeschool.co.uk/">Plumtree</a> is a little futher out in Normanton on the Wolds.</p>



<p>The two closest state secondaries are both rated Outstanding – the <a href="https://www.wbs.school/">West Bridgford School,</a> and <a href="https://rushcliffespencer.org.uk/">Rushcliffe Spencer Academy</a>. Nottingham all-through independent schools <a href="https://www.hollygirt.co.uk/">Hollygirt</a>, <a href="https://nottinghamhigh.co.uk/">Nottingham High</a> and <a href="https://www.isc.co.uk/schools/england/nottinghamshire/nottingham/nottingham-girls-high-school-gdst/">Nottingham Girls High</a> are all within easy reach.</p>

<p>Recreational gem, Rushcliffe Country Park, used to be a very different place, housing a bomb-filling factory during the Second World War.</p>

<p>Just 5 miles into Nottingham city centre, 11 miles to both Loughborough and East Midlands Airport make Ruddington prime commuter territory (and easy peasy for holiday escapes). It’s a 5 min drive to the A52 and just 15 mins to the M1. </p>
