Worth checking out sister venue and Muddy Award-winning Destination Pub <a href="https://thedragonatwillington.co.uk/">The Dragon</a> in neighbouring Willington too. With a stack of swish new bedrooms and a very cosy pub that&#8217;s big on atmosphere, it&#8217;s a great winter weekend pick.</p>

<p>An off-grid escape à deux in this snuggly little Shepherd&#8217;s hut with toasty woodburner, heavenly hot tub and sensational views. One of the Peak District&#8217;s prettiest villages, Hartington, is a 1.5mile walk away &#8211; along with some lovely pubs. Inside, pretty stained-glass windows bathe the swish interiors in a kaleidoscope of colour. Special.</p>

The Signature Suite at The Orchard Hotel sits in the middle of Nottingham Uni&#8217;s lovely, leafy campus with far-reaching views across the city beyond. With an art gallery and fabulous walks on the doorstep, both on campus and at nearby Wollaton Park, this is a very special place to cosy up in luxury in at the end of the day. <p>A long-time favourite haunt of mine, this under-the-radar rural gem dishes up seriously sensational food, specialising in top-notch seafood. Its bedrooms are Scandi-snuggly and the pub reaches peak cosiness with its roaring fire and cosy corners at this time of year. <p>This gorgeous gastropub has quietly been building on its foodie reputation for a while, garnering a clutch of awards and accolades. A proper cosy pub with snuggly corners and elegant touches, it stands out for its comforting, contemporary and locally-sourced food. But it&#8217;s got some gorgeous self-catering accommodation to bed down in too. The Old Barn, is within easy staggering distance and has been beautifully done out in an elegant colour palette, with snuggly leather chairs, woodburner and exposed brick walls.</p>
