Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall has some big names gracing the stage this month, with <a href="https://trch.co.uk/whats-on/the-pretenders/">The Pretenders</a> (20 Oct) and <a href="https://trch.co.uk/whats-on/paul-weller/">Paul Weller</a> (21 Oct) already sold out. But there are tickets up for grabs for <a href="https://trch.co.uk/whats-on/adam-ant/">Adam Ant</a> on 26 Oct.&nbsp;



There will be candlelit crooning at&nbsp;one of the loveliest candlelit concerts in the spectacular setting of&nbsp;Southwell Minster&nbsp;–&nbsp;<a href="https://www.southwellminster.org/events/event/fleetwood-mac-by-candlelight/">Fleetwood Mac by Candlelight</a>&nbsp;on&nbsp;1-2 Oct.



Yippee, 80s nostalgia with a contemporary touch &#8211; all four original members of 80s band <a href="https://trch.co.uk/whats-on/fairground-attraction/">Fairground Attraction</a> are reuniting and bringing their tour to Nottingham Royal Concert Hall on 4 October. As well as reviving the big hits like ‘Perfect’, they’ll be showcasing their brand new album.&nbsp;

Walk in the steps of the condemned, hear about gruesome crimes and visit&nbsp;the dark cells and gallows at Nottingham’s National Justice Museum. <a href="https://www.nationaljusticemuseum.org.uk/museum/events/victorian-condemned">Victorian Condemned: A Halloween Special </a>runs on 25, 26, 30 and 31 Oct plus 1 and 2 Nov, for over 18s only.

A witty chronicler of contemporary life his wry observations&nbsp;are full of humour and this exhibition spans 20 years of the artist&#8217;s work.

Award-winning, hit comedy <a href="https://trch.co.uk/whats-on/art/">Art</a> is a Muddy must-see. On stage at Theatre Royal from 8-12 October. A seemingly simple purchase of contemporary art – an all-white painting – ignites a hilarious debate amongst three close friends. Spooky family thrills on Rufford Abbey&#8216;s spooky woodland <a href="https://ruffordabbey.co.uk/events/ruffords-halloween-trail/">Halloween Trail</a> from 12 Oct &#8211; 3 Nov. Dress in your spookiest costume and explore the mysterious forest trails.



Join the <a href="https://www.hanwellwine.co.uk/grape-harvest/">October grape harvest</a> at Hanwell Wine Estate and get involved in vineyard life, picking grapes and enjoying a wholesome day in the great outdoors. The best bit? It ends with a home-made harvest supper. The exact date depends on the weather, so sign up for alerts to get a heads-up for harvest day.



If you’ve never visited&nbsp;Matlock Bath’s famous&nbsp;<a href="https://www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/leisure/matlock-bath-illuminations">illuminations</a>, it’s well worth a trip en famille. The best bit though is the pretty parade of illuminated boats, led by the candle boat (lit with more than 70 night lights in glass jars)&nbsp;every Saturday and Sunday from 7 Oct until 27 Oct. And if that’s not enough lights for you, there are fireworks every Saturday.

Foodies gather! Southwell’s much-loved autumnal food fest, <a href="https://www.southwellminster.org/events/event/bramley-festival-2024/">The Bramley Apple Festival</a> kicks off in Southwell Minster on Sat 26 October. Dozens of stall holders descend the minster with autumnal goodies including pies, chocolates, jams, chutneys, pickles, sausages and more.

Never mind this’ month’s real supermoon, the one getting all the attention is Luke Jerram’s <a href="https://www.southwellminster.org/events/event/moon/">Museum of the Moon </a>on display at Southwell Minster until 22 Oct. You can even sign up for a blissful <a href="https://www.southwellminster.org/events/event/pilates-under-the-moon/">Pilates session under the moon</a> on Mon 21 or Tues 22 Oct.



Fancy a chilled but creative day out? Head to the <a href="https://www.hanwellwine.co.uk/product/felt-pumpkin-workshop/">Felt Pumpkin Workshop</a> at Hanwell Wine Estate on Fri 11 October and learn the art of needle felting to make a cute pumpkin for your Halloween display. This sounds lovely. An <a href="https://www.chatsworth.org/events/autumn-centrepiece/">Autumnal Centrepiece Workshop</a> in Chatsworth’s Kitchen Garden. Chatsworth’s floristry team will guide you through creating a pumpkin centrepiece for your home on Thurs 17 October. Costs £70, including entry to the garden.



A gorgeous way to spend a Sunday with the gals, book in for Wildhive’s <a href="https://wildhive.uk/clayrooms-sculpture-masterclass/">Wild Hare Sculpture Masterclass</a> in Ashbourne with The Clayrooms on Sat 12 October. You’ll &nbsp;use the highest quality materials and professional tools to sculpt a thing of beauty in the sumptuous surrounds of <a href="https://nottsderbyshire.muddystilettos.co.uk/travel/uk/hotels-inns/muddy-reviews-wildhive-callow-hall-ashbourne-derbyshire-peak-district/">Wildhive Callow Hall</a>.
