<p>Elegant new aparthotel <a href="https://www.stmarysquarters.com/about-us">St Mary&#8217;s Quarters</a> has just opened in a stunner of a grade II listed building in Nottingham&#8217;s Lace Market. With 18 luxe rooms and suites, featuring bespoke beds, private gardens, balconies, or rooftop terrace, it sounds like a great addition to the city&#8217;s sleepover set.</p>



<p>Meanwhile, there&#8217;s been quite a buzz around Scandi-inspired new restaurant <a href="https://www.skeinnotts.com/">Skein</a> (pronounced sk-ay-n) on Goose Gate in Nottingham since it opened last week. The eatery, from the owners of 31k and Yolk, describes itself as &#8216;fine-ish dining&#8217; amid minimal interior design, blonde wood and muted earthy tones &#8211; Muddy&#8217;s kinda place.</p>



<p>A third outpost opens up this month for Nottingham bagel wizards <a href="https://www.instagram.com/thebagelprojecthq/?hl=en">The Bagel Project.</a> Find it on Carrington Street just opposite the train station (it&#8217;s teamed up with Outpost Coffee to offer great coffees too). More excitement brewing for the Notts&#8217; food and drink scene, with <a href="https://cs.bombay-deli.com/">Bombay Deli </a>in Carrington Street expanding upstairs to open a swanky tearoom and cocktail lounge. Planning for an April opening, Passan&#8217;s Tearoom &amp; Cocktail Lounge will be a tearoom by day and eclectic bar by night, serving  small plates, Indian whiskeys and spiced cocktails.</p>



<p>Get ready to get lean and lithe &#8211; <a href="https://www.reformerstudio.co.uk/location/melbourne">The Reformer Studio</a> has opened a pilates studio in Melbourne, right on the high street. Want a taster? Sign up for a 30-minute session this weekend (22 and 23 Feb) before it opens on Mon 24 Feb.</p>

<p>Over in <a href="https://nottsderbyshire.muddystilettos.co.uk/best-places-to-live/chesterfield/">Chesterfield</a>, evenings are on the up, with recently-opened cocktail bar <a href="https://www.instagram.com/elder_chesterfield/">Elder</a> (from the team behind Bottle &amp; Thyme), proving a big hit. Giving a chilled, Italian farmhouse vibe, it&#8217;s a great spot for craft beers, cocktails and coffee. Oh, and the decadent grilled cheese sandwiches have us drooling.</p>

<p>Strictly star Tasha Ghouri added a splash of glitz at the opening of the Love Locker at <a href="https://www.thornbridgehall.co.uk/">Thornbridge Hall. </a>The star added her own red lock to the thousands of Bakewell love locks now safely in their new home. The country estate had free entry over Valentine&#8217;s weekend for visitors to lock in their love with their own hand-inscribed locks.</p>

<p>There&#8217;s a whole lotta local excitement building for the re-opening of <a href="https://thepeacockatrowsley.com/">The Peacock at Rowsley</a> following its takeover by Longbow Venues. After a couple of months of workings its magic behind closed doors, Longbow will open up the grade II listed hotel again on 28 February. Having sneaked a peek at the mood boards for the new interiors (pictured), Muddy&#8217;s excited!</p>

<p>Foodie accolades for a raft of Nottingham restaurants when the Michelin stars were unveiled last week. Chef Sat Bains retains his two stars and one green star, rustic, rural restaurant <a href="https://restaurantjericho.com/">Jericho</a> just a hop over the border in the Vale of Belvoir scooped a green star and Alchemilla held onto its Michelin star. Kushi-Ya, Iberico World Tapas, The Reindeer Hoveringham bagged a Bib Gourmand for good value, quality cooking, while Raymond&#8217;s in Notts secured a mention in the guide. No stars, but <a href="https://guide.michelin.com/gb/en/derbyshire/restaurants">10 entries in the Michelin guide</a> for Derbyshire restaurants, including The Blind Bull, Loveage and Deacon&#8217;s Bank.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s baaack! <a href="https://www.splendourfestival.com/line-up/">Splendour </a>makes a welcome return to Wollaton Park this summer after a year off. Some of the acts announced so far include Kaiser Chiefs, Travis, Bloc Party, Clean Bandit, Jake Bugg and The Levellers.</p>

<p>Love a bit of classic country style? Brace yourself for <a href="https://www.paulsmith.com/uk/discover/collaborations/paul-smith-loves-barbour">Paul Smith</a>&#8216;s collection with Barbour. The Beeston-born designer has created a playful AW25 collection that reimagines Barbour&#8217;s iconic coats as well as knitwear and accessories. Bring on the county shows.</p>



<p>If vintage threads and one-of-a-kind are more your thing, get ready for Glass Onion, a new vintage clothes store opening in Bridlesmith Gate, Nottingham. It already has popular shops in Sheffield and Leeds. <p>Bad news for bibliophiles. <a href="https://www.peakdragon.com/">Peak Dragon Books</a> in Matlock is closed its doors on Sat (15 Feb), although it will still have an online shop. Sad to see lifestyle store <a href="https://www.curlymagpieandfriends.co.uk/">Curly Magpie &amp; Friends </a>in Swadlincote close its doors too.</p>
