<p>A good glass of wine, a couple of small plates,&nbsp;and a slick but laid-back to enjoy them in. Muddy’s loving the vibe at Hockley’s newest restaurant, <a href="https://www.raymondsnottingham.co.uk/">Raymond’s</a> on Stoney Street. Founded by Mesa chef Marcus Lewsley, specials here are sound pretty darn special (dry aged sirloin on the bone or speck and grilled peach salad anyone?) and it’s a brilliant new addition to Nottingham’s foodie scene.</p>

<p>Ooh, swanky. There&#8217;s an art deco feel about the stylish new restaurant set to open in Derby city centre this Friday (6 Sept). <a href="https://www.facebook.com/theninesderby/?paipv=0&amp;eav=AfaEnv9ergK57-9PQrkT7f6omMR_EKh5JyxuMIRqpabji20GlqJFlMCvZscB_qsxOIk&amp;_rdr">The Nines</a> on London Road has a &#8216;fusion&#8217; menu is designed by celebrity chef Maurizio Ferraiuolo and promises to be family-friendly to boot.</p>

<p>Ches-vegas (that&#8217;s Chesterfield for you out-of-towners) got right behind the revamp of one of its favourite places to hang out this week as organic indie <a href="https://bottleandthyme.co.uk/">Bottle &amp; Thyme</a> unveiled its swanky new restaurant. The foodies&#8217; favourite moved across the road to a bigger ( and very beautiful) new home at the weekend and opening weekend proved popular.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-get-on-board">Get on board</h2>



<p>Another new opening on the horizon for Chesterfield &#8211; a new board games café for laid-back lounging. Work is underway on New Beetwell Street to bring <a href="https://boardandbean.co.uk/">Board &amp; Bean</a> to the town by the end of the year.</p>

<p>Another cool indie café for the village of Ruddington, with <a href="https://butlerscoffeehouse.co.uk/">Butler’s Coffee House</a>, opening its third coffee house in a cool corner property on the corner of High Street and Kirk Lane. With a fresh, diner-style vibe, it hopes to repeat the success of its buzzy cafés in Bingham and Radcliffe-on-Trent.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-and-a-new-pizzeria">And a new pizzeria</h2>

<p>Indie pizzeria <a href="peterpizzeria.co.uk">Peter Pizzeria</a> has opened on Pepper Street, Nottingham and we like. Retaining bags of character by housing its restaurant in the old bank vaults, it’s a chilled place to catch up and is the brand’s third outpost (the first pair are in Leicester and Loughborough).</p>



<p>Speaking of pizzas, splitting the bill just got better at <a href="https://www.pizzaexpress.com/">Pizza Express</a> where you can buy one classic pizza and get the second for just £1 from 5-26 Sept. Pass the menu… (dine-in only, T&amp;Cs apply). </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-moving-on-up">Moving on up</h2>



<p>Nottingham&#8217;s favourite award-winning Japanese opens in a swanky new home on High Pavement on Thurs 5 Sept. Super popular <a href="https://kushi-ya.co.uk/">Kushi-Ya</a> will have more space to dish up its trademark izakaya style plates.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-bakewell-s-love-locks-find-a-new-home">Bakewell&#8217;s love locks find a new home</h2>



<p>Love them or loathe them, the thousands of love locks on the bridge in Bakewell have become an iconic sight in the town. And now they’ve been saved from being removed and melted down by the council who need to do maintenance work on the bridge. Nearby Thornbridge Hall has stepped in to reinstate them on wires in the grounds of the stately home. No entry fee required if you want to access your lock’s memories &#8211; the locks will be next to the café so that visitors won’t need to pay an entry fee to see their lock.</p>
