Muse Escapes, Peak District

A luxe stay with plenty to do nearby that’s also relaxing, child and dog friendly – we know, sounds like the stuff of dreams – enter Muse Escapes with their stunning holiday lets in the Peak District to show you how it’s done.

Luxury, self-catering, staycation, children, dogs, opulence, relaxing – words that don’t usually spring to mind when family holidays with your four legged friend in tow are concerned, but Muse Escapes prove that you really can have it all.

Located in the stunning Peak District, husband and wife duo, James and Laura, have transformed a number of properties into luxurious year round, self-catering holiday lets – basically they can provide the staycation of your dreams. Though the appeal is mainly for families, Muse Escapes are also perfect for romantic getaways and large groups of friends.

Foxlow Grange, situated in the charming town of Buxton, consists of eight interior-designed apartments which can sleep up to 30 guests (if you hire the whole building) which means it is great for multigenerational celebrations or getting all the girls together for a weekend away, while individual apartments suit romantic getaways. Then there’s Candle House, a former candle factory in the seriously scenic village of Castleton, (check out the view from the hot tub – oh yeah there’s an outdoor hot tub), which is perfect for families. Sleeping up to seven, there’s a large garden with a play area for children and an outdoor bar to keep big kids occupied – cheers!

Each space has been individually and thoughtfully designed, but the running theme is opulence – I’m talking brass baths, plush furnishings, richly decorated walls, dark wood furniture, parquet flooring, gold coloured fixtures and fittings. There’s wifi in each property, along with a welcome hamper stocked with some lovely local goodies and essentials like milk and Yorkshire tea as well as other household bits you don’t want to cart about with you – matches, dishwasher tablets, kitchen roll etc – you name it, Laura and James have thought of it.

Being located in the Peak District means there is plenty for everyone to do and see, (if you can tear yourself away from the hot tub that is), no matter their age or interests. Like abseiling, kayaking and horse riding for the adventurers, walks for long, little and furry legs and plenty of National Parks to explore, there’s also an abundance of traditional country pubs for when you fancy a night(s) off the cooking. What more could you want? Your next getaway, sorted!
