It’s also popular for corporate events, private parties and has even branched into special events open to the public like elegant afternoon teas, festive winter balls and glamorous cocktail nights.</p>

<p>Elegant country house cool. You don’t walk once you’ve stepped inside stunning Norwood House; you waft.</p>



<p>The entrance is everything you want from an event venue – wow with a capital W. On stepping through Norwood Park&#8217;s pretty arched doorway, you’re greeted with a breathtakingly beautiful staircase, peppered with antique portraits and dramatically lit with sunlight from the atrium above. Beyond that, your eye is drawn outside to the stunning terrace and gardens, immaculate lawn and photogenic Highland cows grazing by the lake. You couldn’t ask for a more quintessentially English setting.</p>

<p>And it doesn’t stop there. The ooh’s and ahh’s of your guests will just keep on coming as the glimpse the cool, clubby lounge with plush navy velvet sofas and gilt-edged portraits and lamps. The art deco polished wood bar is an absolute showstopper – a perfect spot to linger til late in the evening. There’s a refined breakfast room (laid out with pretty pastel-hued cups and saucers) and more formal light-flooded room for smaller ceremonies and down at the far end of the elegant corridor? A fab-u-lous pink and grey room for getting ready with your friends. With vast, gold-framed mirrors, loads of hanging space and dressing tables galore, it&#8217;s hard to imagine a more perfect getting ready set-up.</p>

<p>Book an event at Norwood Park and you’ll be in good hands. For us, on paper it looked perfect for hosting the annual Muddy Awards do. From the moment the Muddy team set our stilettos inside the stunner of an entrance hall (think grand staircase, immaculate antiques and beautiful views out onto the lawns and gardens beyond), we felt at home. Not just because we’re to the manor born (obvs), but because the Norwood crew are oh-so-down-to-earth, friendly and welcoming. There are no airs and graces here. The staff are just lovely folk who are super helpful, professional and full of fab ideas. They know their stuff and were quick to guide us to what would work best.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-scoff-quaff">SCOFF &amp; QUAFF</h2>



<p>Norwood Park has its own little black book of suppliers to rival Muddy’s own and who they are used to working with and heartily recommend. We went with the in-house team to spoil our award winners with creative canapes and fizz.</p>

<p>The roast sirloin of beef Yorkshires were a huge hit, flying off the silver platters, hotly followed by oh-so-tasty Lincolnshire sausages with a honey mustard glaze and the seasame-dusted halloumi with harissa mayo. Mwoah!</p>



<p>They were incredible. You know you’re onto something good when you feel no need to check if things are running to schedule or worry about whether they&#8217;ll remember what&#8217;s next. They had it all taken care of in the very best of ways – everything ran smoothly and you barely noticed the utterly professional staff.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-pillow-talk">PILLOW TALK</h2>



<p>Although the Muddy team didn’t stay overnight, I was given a beautiful bedroom to change in (high maintenance, moi?). Like everywhere else at Norwood Park, it was an elegant, calm space. Spacious, flooded with light from pretty, arched windows and tastefully decorated in a muted grey palette with dainty chandelier and a mellow mix of contemporary and antique furniture.</p>



<p>There are enough bedrooms in the main house and wings to sleep up to 45 guests. Plus, there are two brand new self-catering houses in the grounds, both kitted out to a high standard and perfect for those who want to linger a little longer.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-out-about">OUT &amp; ABOUT</h2>



<p>Making a longer stay of it? There’s stacks of lovely stuff to do in this corner of Nottinghamshire. Stunning Southwell, with its cool indie shops (three of them Muddy Award winners!) and gorgeous Minster is just down the road. There are beautiful walks within the estate itself, as well as a golf course.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-muddy-verdict">THE MUDDY VERDICT</h2>



<p><strong>GOOD FOR: </strong>Weddings of any size, special birthdays and events. Celebrations here will be remembered, memories will linger for a long time and every guest is guaranteed to feel special.</p>



<p><strong>NOT FOR:</strong> It’s hard to overstate how perfect Muddy’s experience at Norwood Park was (you can get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of it <a href="http://youtube.com/watch?v=ExmtoUiMsaE" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">here</a>) and it’s hard to see who wouldn’t love it. I guess if you’re after a wild, won’t-remember-it-in-the-morning wedding, this maybe isn’t the place for you.</p>
