<p>Over 100 years of baking experience you say? Loaf definitely knows a thing or two about a decent dough. Based in the picturesque Derbyshire villages of Crich and Ashbourne, you&#8217;ll find Loaf&#8217;s incredible sourdough selling out at markets across the county and, I speak with some experience here, their croissants are knockout. </p>

<p>Tough Mary&#8217;s canary yellow bakehouse is a staple feature of Nottingham&#8217;s historic Derby Road. Owned by Kate O&#8217;Shea (who studied in the city and never left), the team of wizard bakers rustle up sweet and savoury treats that&#8217;ll make your mouth water. And should you need a coffee with your pecan bun, grab a cup and sit in the window to watch the world go by. </p>

<p>There&#8217;s something special that happens when an artisan knows everything about their craft – and the bakers at Small Food are truly grain experts. Along with producing fantastic sourdough, the team hosts the biannual UK Grain Lab conference, bringing together bakers, cooks, farmers, millers, activists, scientists, and storytellers to help build a new grain economy for the UK. </p>

<p>Ok, not quite a bakery, but if you’re looking for someone to dish up perfect patisseries for your next big bash, say ciao to Pasticceria Lorena. Lorena combines old family recipes that have been handed down for generations, the finest Italian ingredients and a whole lotta creative flair to make authentic, super luxe desserts that you would fabricate an event for just to get a bite. Her decadent desserts graced the table at this year’s Muddy Awards bash and they were a huge hit.</p>

<p>Another one for your party planning Little Black Book (it&#8217;s already in Muddy&#8217;s). The fabulous team at Rhubarb Kitchen offers a bespoke catering service for between 20 and 100 guests &#8211; and just look at the perfect pastries and sweet treats they can dish up. From Bakewell tarts to pretty petits fours and wedding cakes, these guys get their bakes just right.</p>
