<p>One to book now and slot into your autumn diary – these elegant afternoon teas aren&#8217;t available from week to week so these special events sell out fast.&nbsp; With two sittings, at 12pm and 3pm, Norwood’s Autumn Afternoon Tea on Sun 29 September should be a gorgeous grown-up affair, with delicious cakes in sumptuous surroundings. Take a trip down to the lake afterwards for a photo opp with the resident Highland cows.</p>

Known county-wide for its incredible afternoon teas, expect a quintessentially British affair with fine china, posh champers and the daintiest pastries. Finish off your visit with a walk around the grounds of the Kedleston Estate. The house is just a stone’s throw from Kedleston Hall, an 18th-century show palace that was built to rival Chatsworth. <p>A touch of grandeur? How about tea at this apricot-hued Georgian country house hotel in the Vale of Belvoir? Served Thursdays and Fridays between 3pm and 5pm, you’ll get a selection of classic sandwiches followed by freshly baked scones, clotted cream and jam, and homemade biscuits and cakes for £35 a head. A celebrity favourite (Keira Knightly stayed here, Paul Smith helped with rooms), you never know who you might bump into.</p>

<p>Pretty pastels, hygge vibes and seriously dee-licious scones – Muddy has a special soft spot for The Little Shed (Ashbourne is my haunt but I’ve heard great things about the OG in Allestree too). With it’s White Company-esque décor and relaxed feel, it’s ideal for a treat with your mum or the girls and if the weather plays ball there’s always the option of sitting outside too.</p>

<p>You can’t fail to love this one. A stone’s throw from Chatsworth and perfectly traditional, the newly refurbished Cavendish does afternoon tea well. The swish newly decorated Gallery Restaurant is a gorgeous spot (pictured). As well as the finger sandwiches, the pastry chef makes fresh cakes and buttermilk scones every day. Mmm! All accompanied by a vast menu of tempting loose-leaf teas, handmade barista coffee or a fresh cafetiere. From £37.50pp. Toasting a special occasion? Add a glass of Laurent Perrier Champagne for £16.50.</p>

<p>One of Nottinghamshire&#8217;s best afternoon teas, sipping champagne and savouring sweet and savoury treats in the serene surroundings of this lovely place is a total treat. &nbsp;Expect fine teas, delicate sandwiches, and exquisite pastries in a historic, laid-back setting. A champagne afternoon tea costs £45pp or £35pp sans fizz.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-colwick-hall-nottingham"><a href="https://colwickhallhotel.com/afternoon-tea-nottingham-2/">Colwick Hall</a>, Nottingham</h2>



<p>At Colwick Hall Hotel in Nottingham, afternoon tea is something of an event. And there&#8217;s a lovely Summer Afternoon Tea offer on until the end of September.  You’ll get traditional finger sandwiches, followed by a ‘sweet slate’ of summery sweets like the strawberry muffin with strawberry frosting in the stately surroundings of Colwick Hall Hotel, once home to Lord Byron the poet. From £23.95pp.</p>

<p>In the city? Stop off for a treat of an afternoon tea in Hart&#8217;s Hotel&#8217;s sunny courtyard. Finger sandwiches are made using delicious<a href="https://nottsderbyshire.muddystilettos.co.uk/little-black-book/directory/hambleton-bakery-west-bridgford-nottingham/"> Hambleton Bakery</a> bread, the homemade scones are some of the best in the city and there&#8217;s a whopping range of specialty loose leaf teas from Jing Tea. <p>A word of warning, expect Derbyshire portions with this one. Perfect for a post-Peak stomp, hike one of the many Peak trails then head into beautiful Bakewell and stop off to refuel and sample the obligatory Bakewell pudd. Afternoon teas are available in the restaurant for £75 for two – and there’s plenty to fill you up. Sarnies include roast beef &amp; horseradish, smoked salmon and cream cheese, Cheddar and chutney, ham and mustard mayo. Then it’s macaroons, cakes and mini Bakewell puddings. Delish.</p>
