In the historic village of Repton, enveloped by the stunning South Derbyshire countryside, you’ll find The Boot – a recently refurbished, 17th Century former Coaching Inn and soon to be your new favourite local or staycation destination.

Known for it’s food (seriously you will not go hungry here) the AA* gastropub focuses on fresh flavours and local produce with Head Chef, Matt Allsopp, compiling the drool-worthy menus which offer world cuisine and elevated British classics. Think pulled duck tacos with pineapple and jalapeño salsa and confit pork belly with black pudding hash, burnt apple and mustard sauce washed down with a cheeky cocktail, glass of wine (or two) or a pint of their very own Boot Beer.

All day dining but make it classy? The Boot does this and then some, offering brunch, champagne breakfast, light bites at lunch to full on Sunday roasts, afternoon tea and then a knockout dinner menu. There’s even a separate menu for kids and regular gourmet nights and food themed evenings (I know, it’s foodie heaven!).

Scoffed and quaffed so much you need to stay overnight? (No judgement here it’s easily done). Take your pick from the 11 individually-designed bedrooms that somehow manage to retain the 17th Century charm (exposed beams, brick fireplaces etc) without skimping on luxury. Offering a variety of doubles, singles and twin rooms categorised as  Classic, De-Luxe and Superior, there’s even a Suite which accommodates up to four people – perfect for a family holiday or break away with the girls.

If you can tear yourself away from the food or your cosy bolthole there’s plenty of nearby attractions to stomp round (and work that appetite back up) including wonderful woodland walks around Foremark Reservoir and the Calke Estate, as well as country houses a plenty (Calke Abbey, Sudbury Hall and Kedleston Hall to name a few).

Basically, for a restorative countryside stay with family or friends, a romantic retreat or a standout meal, The Boot is bullseye.
